Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at the time in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was general correspondent for NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest at times on TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. She was on the panel during the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection from the infringement of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at The White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered a myriad of important stories like arms control the tax reform for the budget and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell visited extensively together with President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
